Some people believe that local news is more important than international news, while others argue that news from around the world has more significance.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Sample Answer

In today's world, people are debating whether local news or international news is more important. Local news fans say it affects our daily lives, from what we eat to how we vote. International news supporters think knowing about global events helps us see the bigger picture, understand different cultures, and care about various issues.

Local news is crucial because it tells us about our immediate surroundings. It updates us on local events, weather, traffic, and other things that affect our daily routines. For instance, a local health alert can make communities take action to prevent a health crisis. Also, following local news can create a community feeling, encouraging people to get involved in local government.

On the flip side, international news exposes us to the world outside our neighborhoods. In today's interconnected world, knowing about global events is vital. For example, understanding global relationships can impact a country's economy, influencing local job markets and foreign investments. The COVID-19 pandemic shows how connected our world is; decisions made far away can affect us here at home.

To me, both local and international news are important. Knowing only about local news without understanding global issues is narrow-minded. On the other hand, focusing solely on international news can make someone forget about their local responsibilities. Therefore, balancing both types of news is key to being well-informed, and helping individuals take meaningful actions locally and globally.

In summary, local news keeps us aware of our immediate surroundings, while international news broadens our view of the world. By following both, we develop a well-rounded perspective, becoming informed citizens who can make a positive impact on society.
