Nowadays, many people travel to other countries for holidays. What are some reasons for this? Does it have a negative or positive impact on the countries they visit on holiday?

Exploring new countries during holidays is a choice many make for the thrill and joy it brings. Traveling abroad is a chance to experience unique cultures, stunning landscapes, and different ways of living. These journeys are more than just fun; they help us see the world through different eyes, breaking down barriers of misunderstanding and making us more empathetic toward other people. In other words, visiting places with diverse cultures, we confront our own preconceptions and grow to become more accepting.

When we travel, our spending on hotels, meals, and local crafts supports the economies of the host countries we visit. Tourism income can help preserve cultural landmarks and natural beauty. Also, we must always remember the importance of traveling responsibly and supporting eco-friendly tourism.

Yet, the impact of too many visitors — over-tourism — cannot be ignored. It risks damaging the very beauties we want to see, from natural habitats to local lifestyles, making it harder for residents to afford their own cities. Places like Bhutan and Costa Rica have found innovative solutions due to the large number of foreign tourists visiting each year. One of these is a simple tourist fee, to help protect their culture and environment.

In summary, holiday travel abroad offers a win-win: enriching tourists' lives while benefiting the host locations they visit. It drives economic development, cultural appreciation, and global unity. However, this is only true if tourists are mindful of their impact and strive to protect the environment and honor the communities they visit.
