Answer

The piece of equipment or household item that I use the most is my electric fan.

It's a standing fan with a round base, and it has three speeds which you can adjust with a switch on top.

It comes in quite handy during hot summer days, as it helps keep the room cool and comfortable. I've had this electric fan for about three years, and it still works like brand new.

Not only do I use this fan, but other family members also take advantage of its cooling abilities.

My elder brother uses it when he's studying in his room because he finds the air circulation really helpful for concentrating better.

My mom turns to it whenever we're having dinner or watching TV together as she says she can't stand the heat if the fan is off.

As for me, I love to take it with me when I'm going to sleep so that I can have a good night's rest without sweating too much.

Besides its practicality, this electric fan has sentimental value as well. It was a gift from my grandparents on my fourteenth birthday and I consider it one of the most special presents that I've ever received from them.

This fan never fails to remind me of the wonderful memories we shared together, like playing board games or watching cartoons on weekends – and all those little moments are priceless in my heart.

This electric fan is not only helpful but also very dear to me because of its sentimental value. It will continue to be part of my life for many years and I am so grateful that I have it.

It helps me to stay cool during summer days and reminds me of the beautiful memories with my grandparents. No words can truly express how thankful I am for this amazing gift.

  • Vacuum cleaner – it’s important to keep the floors clean and free of dust, which is why vacuum cleaners are very common household items.
  • Refrigerator – they come in all sizes and shapes but are commonly found in almost every home. It helps preserve food by keeping it cool so that it doesn’t spoil quickly.
  • Dishwasher – these machines help save time on doing dishes by hand if you have a large family or entertain regularly at home.
  • Cooking stove – this is an essential item for cooking meals quickly and efficiently.
  • Furniture – every home needs furniture like couches, tables, beds, chairs etc to make it more comfortable and liveable.
  • Television/entertainment system – this is a great way to keep up with the news or watch your favorite shows or movies in the comfort of your own home.
  • Kettle – an electric kettle is useful for making tea or coffee quickly and easily without having to wait for a pot of water to boil on the stovetop.
  • A/C or heater – having a good air conditioning or heating system is essential for making sure you have the temperature at the right level.
  • Home security system – this is important for providing peace of mind and making sure that your home is safe from break-ins.
  • Kitchen appliances – a good kitchen should have some basic appliances like a refrigerator, oven, microwave, toaster, etc to make cooking easier.

How to Answer IELTS Speaking Cue Card Topics

If you want to get the best IELTS speaking score possible then you need to do lots of practice speaking using typical IELTS speaking questions.

The questions in Part 1 of the IELTS speaking test are relatively easy and giving a response of two or three decent sentences should be enough to perform well in the first section.

Part 2 of the IELTS speaking interview is the ‘long turn’ or cue card topic question when you have to speak for between one and two minutes on a topic which is given to you on a cue card.

  • The card contains the topic you need to talk about and some bullet points that should be included in your talk.
  • The IELTS examiner will also provide you with a sheet of paper and pencil so that you can make some notes before you begin speaking. You are allowed up to one minute to prepare your response to the cue card.
  • When the IELTS examiner asks you to begin speaking you should be prepared to speak for up to two minutes; this is the maximum time allowed for this task.
  • Most IELTS test takers can speak for around one minute without much problem – but to score well in this section of the IELTS speaking test, you need to be able to fully extend your talk and speak for longer.

Most of the topics are about general topics, ideas, or events in your life and are not particularly difficult.

But, it’s still a good idea to practice as many of these cue card topic questions as possible before your IELTS test so that you feel confident and comfortable speaking in English for an extended period of time – especially if it’s something you don’t usually do.

Becoming familiar with the format, type of questions, and managing your time in Part 2 of the IELTS speaking test will help you speak with more confidence and fluency and this will also help improve your overall IELTS score.
